The best beaches in Antalya: from Lara Beach to Konyaaltı, a guide to the Turkish Riviera's shores

Antalya, a seaside paradise on the eastern Mediterranean

With over 300 days of sunshine per year and turquoise water reaching 28 °C in summer, Antalya is Turkey's most popular coastal destination. The city welcomed more than 16 million visitors in 2024, most of whom came for its outstanding beaches. Whether you are looking for a long stretch of fine sand lined with resorts or a wild cove reachable only by boat, the Antalya coastline offers remarkable diversity within just a few dozen kilometres.

Lara Beach, golden sands and world-class hotels

Located 12 kilometres east of the city centre, Lara Beach is Antalya's most famous sandy shore. Its coastline stretches for several kilometres, flanked by international-standard all-inclusive resorts. The free public beach features calm, shallow waters ideal for families. Fresh-fish restaurants and beach clubs dot the shoreline. It is easily reached by bus from the city centre or by taxi from the airport in about 20 minutes.

Konyaaltı, the urban beach with mountain views

West of the historic centre, Konyaaltı is Antalya's most accessible beach, connected by tramway. Made up of pebbles and fine gravel, it offers a spectacular setting with the Taurus Mountains as a backdrop. Beach Park, which runs along the shore, features pools, water slides, cafes and playgrounds. The pedestrian promenade lining the beach buzzes from morning to night, and the nightlife is especially vibrant in high season.

Hidden coves and secret beaches around Antalya

Beyond the two main urban beaches, the region harbours more intimate treasures. Kaputaş Beach, about two hours' drive south-west, is a narrow cove wedged between two cliffs with strikingly blue water. Closer by, Phaselis Beach sits within an ancient Lycian archaeological site surrounded by pine trees, combining swimming with history. Finally, Olympos Beach, reached via a forest trail, attracts travellers seeking unspoilt nature. From Antalya Airport, a rental car will get you to these coves in one to two hours.
